Why is it that so many female fans of Hall and Oates get all excited when they hear Maneater, and claim that THEY are maneaters? Didn't they ever listen to that song? If they would clear the earwax, lipids, and excess adipose tissue out of their ear canals, they might be able to hear Daryl sing "she's sitting with you but her eyes are on the door". They might realize that the song is about a predatory female who is not faithful, and does not have any regard for any one man. They might also take note of the lyrics "so many have paid to see what you think you're getting for free". Basically, to put it bluntly, the song is about a whore. Are the hideously overweight, aging female fans admitting that they are whores? Wow, there's something to aspire to. No wonder Daryl makes snide remarks about women who like that song.
